Sankt Anna am Lavantegg (Austria), Sunday 28 June 2015

Participants in the Zirbitzkogel Berglauf — a mountain running event in Austria's state of Styria — run 11.2 kilometres of a very scenic and challenging uphill route which includes about 1100 metres of elevation gain.

The finish line is on top of the Zirbitzkogel (2397m), the highest peak of the Seetaler Alpen (Seetal Alps).

Starting in the small village of Sankt Anna am Lavantegg (1291m) which sits on the eastern slopes of the mountain, the first half of the race is run on trails through forests, the second half through alpine tundra.

After the race, participants walk back to the 'Waldheimhütte' mountain hut (1614m) from where a bus takes them to the award ceremony in Sankt Anna.

In 2014, 126 runners registered for the race. The entry limit is 150 runners.
