Heiligenhafen (Germany), Friday 31 July 2015
Starting at 11pm on a Friday night in late July, participants in the Mitternachtslauf (‘Midnight Run’) run 10km of an undulating course through Heiligenhafen, a small town on the Baltic coast in Germany's northernmost state of Schleswig-Holstein.
The route runs through the historic town centre, through residential areas, past the marina, along the beach promenade, and through the ‘Ferienpark’ holiday resort.
More than 700 runners took part in the 10k race last year. The top finishers were Dennis Mehlfeld (32:46) and Verena Becker (41:11).
