The Fackellauf ("Torch Run") attracts more than 200 runners from both sides of the River Neisse which separates the Europastadt Görlitz-Zgorzelec in two — Görlitz in Germany and Zgorzelec in Poland.

Two race distances are available — 4km (one lap) and 8km (two laps).

Starting at 6.30pm (after nightfall) at the Altstadtbrücke footbridge in the city centre (pictured), participants run through both the German and the Polish part of the city, crossing two torch-lit bridges.
