The Stadtlauf Berlin takes runners through the relatively affluent south-western part of Germany's capital city.

Last year, more than 4500 runners took part in the event, which offers a half marathon (two laps), a 10.5km run (one lap), and children's races.

Starting on Schloßstraße, one of Berlin's main shopping streets, participants run through the leafy localities of Steglitz, Dahlem, Schmargendorf, and Friedenau, passing many elegant villas, several buildings of the Free University of Berlin, and the Botanical Garden.

Instead of a bib, entrants get a technical T-shirt which they must wear during the race.
