37th ‘New Year's Eve Run Vienna’ 2013

Starting at 11am on New Year's Eve, the Wiener Silvesterlauf features a very attractive and scenic 5.4km loop course around Vienna's city centre.

Over 3000 runners and walkers took part in the event last year.

Most of the race is run on the imperial Ringstrasse which is lined with grandiose buildings such as the Hofburg, the Austrian Parliament buildings, the Rathaus, the University, the Staatsoper, the Burgtheater, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, ...

Entry fees: € 15/18/20/23 (up to 30 Sep/10 Dec/30 Dec/31 Dec 2013)

Timing: ChampionChip — use your own chip or rent a chip for € 3 (€ 30 deposit)

Race centre: Ringstrassen-Galerien, in the wing next to the Staatsoper (27-30 Dec 2013, 8.00-18.00; on the day 8.00-10.00)

You get: bag storage, feed station in the start/finish area

Prizes: trophies to the first 3 in each category, to the best "heavy runners" and nordic walkers, and to the participants with the most imaginative costumes
