17. Stadtlauf Nürnberg 2012
Nuremberg (Germany), Wednesday 3 October 2012
With over 6000 finishers in three races (6km, 10km and half marathon), the Stadtlauf Nürnberg is the largest running event in the Franconia region in northern Bavaria. The event is held on the "Day of German Unity"—Germany's national day, celebrated on October 3 to commemorate the anniversary of the German reunification. Start and finish are at the Opera House of Nuremberg (German: Nürnberg), an old and historically important city of 500.000 people. The half marathon consists of two laps of a mostly flat course. Participants run through the city centre, through parkland, and around the Wöhrder See (pictured below), a reservoir in the eastern part of Nuremberg. Instead of a bib number, entrants get a technical T-shirt which they must wear during the race. |
