Around 240 runners of all ages took part in last year's Landhauslauf in Eisenstadt, capital of the Burgenland State in eastern Austria.

Eisenstadt is a small town of about 13,000 residents, situated close to the Hungarian border and to Lake Neusiedl, about 50 kilometres from Vienna.

The event comprises a 10.5km race (five laps), a 4.2km run (two laps), a 2.1km fun run, and children's races.

Starting and finishing at the very pretty town hall, participants run through Eisenstadt's pedestrianized old town, they pass the massive Schloss Esterházy, and they run through a corner of the castle gardens.

Last year, the fastest finishers in the 10.5km main race were Marius Bock (36:10) and Lydia Bencic (44:43).
