The Stadtlauf Frohnleiten brings around 700 runners and nordic walkers to the small and neat town of Frohnleiten, situated in the narrow industrial Mur River Valley, approximately 30km north of the city of Graz.

The main race is the 9.6-kilometre run, which consists of two undulating loops. The event also offers a 4.8-kilometre run, children's races, and two nordic walking routes.

Starting and finishing on Frohnleiten's main square, the route runs mildly uphill to the village of Adriach, and then downhill to the River Mur and back to town on a cycleway along the river.
In 2011, the fastest finisher was Kenya's Micah Kiplagat Samoei (pictured) in a time of 28:44. His compatriot Kellen Mukami Waithira celebrated victory in the women's race (33:47).
