Gazzetta Run Udine 2011
Udine (Italy), Saturday 14 May 2011
An interesting mix of runners, shoppers and drinkers will cram the streets of Udine again when the annual Gazzetta Run will take place in the old Friulian city of art and culture in north-eastern Italy. Named after the Italian sports tabloid "La Gazzetta dello Sport", the race is the second of a series of eight running events, held from April to October in different cities and towns of Italy. The main race is the 10K, which consists of three laps. Start is at 8pm. Two hours earlier starts the 6.7K run (two laps, "non-competitive", without time-keeping) which is also open to runners who are not in possession of a medical certificate. The route runs entirely through the inner-city, passing many of Udine's well-preserved historic buildings. Some sections are on cobblestones. In 2010, the course was a bit shorter than 10K. The winners were Stefano Guidotti (27:53) and Isidora Castellani (32:12). |
